IN partnership with the European Union in the Philippines and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AEIDC), the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) on Friday concluded the Governance in Justice Programme: The Human Rights Project (GOJUST II–HR).
The closing event brought together human rights defenders, representatives from local government units, civil society organizations and international partners.
The event was themed “Panagyaman,” an Ilokano term for thanksgiving traditionally associated with celebrating a fruitful harvest in Northern Philippines.
It was viewed as a fitting metaphor for the culmination of GOJUST II since it was a celebration of the program’s achievements and the collaborative efforts that made them possible as well as the hopeful path it paved for sustained human rights initiatives moving forward.
